In 2026, VITS celebrates a special milestone: 70 years of LAY-ON-AIR®. Since the invention of the LAY-ON-AIR® air flotation principle in 1956, this pioneering technology has set the benchmark for contact-free air flotation drying.
At VITS, drying is far more than a single process step - it is one of our core competencies. For seven decades, we have been developing innovative air flotation dryers that ensure outstanding product quality, process reliability and energy efficiency in the processing of web-based materials.
During the drying process, the material is guided through the dryer in a sinus wave over specially designed LAY-ON-AIR® nozzles. This creates a stable air cushion, enabling completely contact-free, gentle and uniform drying. The process is ideally suited for sensitive, coated and impregnated materials.
Our air flotation dryers are designed for a wide range of continuously processed web materials, including paper, films, foils, fabrics, glass fibre materials, metals, prepregs, coated substrates and technical laminates.
